Diary of Events

  • Wednesday 7th July Brian Jackson will talk about the Railway History of Yeovil.

  • Thursday 15th July Bob Alderman of the A1 Trust talking about the building of the new steam locomotive 'Tornado' followed by Derek Philips presenting a slide show and talk about his time on the footplate at Yeovil Town.
     
    Both talks at Quicksilver Mail, Yeovil beginning at 7.30pm. Entrance Fee £1/person.

 

PLEASE NOTE: All Car Parking for the main event (except disabled-limited availability) will be at Ivel Barbarians Rugby Club BA22 9TR - just off A37, south of Yeovil on Dorchester Road at Red House Roundabout. FREE bus link to Festival, (hopefully all heritage buses).

  • Saturday 17th July 2010

  • 10:00 Site opens to the public.The days attractions will include: Train rides top and tailed by a visiting loco and our resident peckett 0-4-0. Diesel loco 50050 on display. A real ale tent serving brews from along the London and south western route. British railways totem & target (Station signs) display. Trade stands. David Shepherd's Wildlife Foundation with exhibition of work and signing by David. Model railways. Turntable demos. 'Driver 4 a Fiver' your opportunity to drive a locomotive. Miniature railway. Model Engineers display. Visits to the footplate of mainline steam & diesel locomotives including GWR 4-6-0 6024 'King Edward 1st'.

  • 12:00 Main event opening by special guest David Shepherd CBE and local dignitaries.

  • 17:00 Public Close of Day 1.

 

  • Sunday 18th July 2010 - Main event Day 2.

  • 10:00 Site opens to the public. The days attractions will include: Train rides top and tailed by a visiting loco and our resident peckett 0-4-0. Diesel loco 50050 on display. Turntable demos. 'Driver 4 a Fiver' your opportunity to drive a locomotive. Miniature railway. Model Engineers display. Visits to the footplate of mainline steam & diesel locomotives including GWR 4-6-0 6024 'King Edward 1st'.

  • Arrival of mainline steam tour from London behind unknown loco which will be turned & serviced at the site before departing in tandem with 30777 'Sir Lamiel' which we think will stabled at Yeovil, to Weymouth.

  • 17:00 Public Close of Day 2.
